A TEA "ACADEMICALLY ACCEPTABLE" SCHOOL DISTRICT

Accreditation
The Forney Independent School District is fully accredited and was designated by the Texas Education Agency as an "EXEMPLARY" District in 1999-2000 and a "RECOGNIZED" District in '94-95, '95-'96, '96-'97, '97-'98. Only five districts were rated "Exemplary" in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area in 2000.

Board Meets
The Forney I.S.D. Board of Trustees meets on the First and Third Monday nights each month, 7:00 pm at 600 South Bois d'Arc. All meetings are open to the public.

The Forney High School is an "Academically Acceptable" campus and provides a sound curriculum to prepare students for post-secondary studies. Advanced Placement courses include art, biology, calculus, chemistry, economics, English, geometry, U.S. history, government, and Spanish. Dual credit courses are available, and outstanding vocational courses are offered for all students. Numerous extracurricular activities are available including sports, choir, band, and theater. Our student council, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, HOSA and PALS and other student organizations participate in a variety of community service activities. Brown Middle School is currently an "Academically Acceptable" campus and received Gold Performance Acknowledgments in the areas of Reading, Writing, and Social Studies. Prior to 2004, FMS has been either a "Recognized" or "Exemplary" campus. In addition, BMS has either been district UIL Academic Champion or Runner-up for six consecutive years.

The middle school serves over 700 students and has a staff of 63 employees including teachers, aides, custodians, cafeteria workers, and other support positions.

BMS offers a program which includes advanced, regular, and support classes in the core subjects, a full spectrum of special education services, services for gifted and talented students, band, music, art, theater arts, desktop publishing, competitive athletics, dance, and Spanish.
